Job Description
The Group Performance Leader (GPL) is responsible for the on-time execution of the production schedule by the shop floor to meet all customer demands, as well as reporting performance and issues into the daily integration meeting. The GPL works closely with the following teams: supply chain, scheduling, maintenance, engineering, customer service, warehouse, receiving, quality, and label and literature.
Responsibilities
The GPL will perform a daily review of the past 24 hours at the beginning of their day.
The GPL is accountable for safety, quality, and productivity KPI's in their area. The GPL and Engineering & Maintenance Manager will jointly share accountability for improving and sustaining autonomous and preventative maintenance by the operators.
The GPL will manage the daily performance summary and is responsible to make sure that performance KPI's are updated. The daily performance summary and performance KPI's are critical for reporting the shift's performance on a daily basis.
The GPL will create the daily plan based on the output of the daily review, integration, and daily schedule meetings. It allows for the TPL/GPL to manage the key daily activities that need to be completed. The daily plan is the tool that allows the GPL to provide active decision making to the shop floor. The daily plan includes performance daily goals for production.
The GPL will lead the daily integration meeting including Safety, Quality, Engineering, and Maintenance representation.
The GPL will lead the daily schedule review process.
The GPL will act as a Coach for the Coaches for the respective TPL's in their area.
The GPL is responsible for partnering with the maintenance department to coordinate planned maintenance activities. The GPL will ensure the equipment is prepared prior to maintenance intervention as defined in the daily integration meeting.
The GPL will provide support for all continuous improvement efforts which include implementation of new standards, procedures, and improvements. Personally demonstrate and coach lean fundamentals with TPL (Team Performance Leader) and production team members. Specifically, Daily Gemba walks, conduct Behavior Based Safety Observations, Quality Behavior Observations, and lead Tier 2 meetings.
The GPL will support problem solving activities related to safety, quality and performance on the shop floor.
Conduct Departmental Meetings, as required, maintain necessary personnel records, evaluate all personnel quarterly as well as annually, arrange for necessary training of all employees. Manage the cross training matrix and ensure depth in cross training for every station.
Develop and enforce all applicable Standard Operating Procedures (SOP's) for each area of production assigned (Example: mixing, filling, packaging, and material handling)
The GPL will administer disciplinary action.
Ensure all packaging and raw materials used are properly recorded in SAP. Report all shortages and discrepancies to the supply chain team for planning purposes.
When required, the GPL will elevate problems related to the plant manager.
Qualifications
REQUIRED
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent, college degree preferred
Minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience in a production environment, in a supervisory role.
ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS
Must be able to turn plant goals and objectives into an actionable and measurable plan.
5S/Clean/Organized
Certified lean training and experience/examples delivering results through lean
efforts.
Must believe that a clean organized work environment is a safer and more
productive work environment.
Must be able to prioritize and organize requests from a project perspective. Must be able to multi-task.
High degree of analysis, problem solving and creativity. Specifically 5-Why
Effective use of technology to accomplish objectives
(Word, Excel, PowerPoint, e-mail, internet, SAP, Business Objects etc.).
Good financial acumen.
Approximately 75% of the day will be on the production floor coaching and mentoring - could sit for periods of up to 4 hours at a time. Must be able to lift up to 45 pounds occasionally.
