Job Description:
This individual will serve as the communication link for a student with significant hearing loss.
The candidate will attend classes with the student and provide support to the student by signing information presented to the student in the school setting.
The individual may need to cover for other interpreters in middle school or elementary buildings as needed.
Qualified candidates should possess:
Ability to be student centered; Passion in working with middle school and elementary school aged students; Ability to promote a positive school climate in all interactions with students, staff, and parents; Effective oral and written communication skills; and Ability to work as a team member; Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Training/experience with signing and working with a diverse student population.
Expressive and receptive signing skills in English and American Sign Language Training/experience working with students with cochlear implants The ideal candidate will display the following personal characteristics:
